The collaboration between artist Sofya Skidan and conceptual space Lyag explores the language of corporeality, fragility and sexuality, revealing them through the prism of the interaction of the human and non-human in the context of the modern city. The project proposes a dialog between natural and man-made elements, rethinking the boundaries of conventional perception.
The exhibition includes video works, sculptures, textile installation and post-digital dibond prints. A silicone sculpture embodying the texture and “skin” of the island of Bali coexists with objects created from artifacts found on beaches and in the jungle. These materials are reworked through a synthesis of the natural and the man-made, reflecting their interpenetrating dialog. Video art and dibond prints reveal a post-digital optic, where the sensual modus of movement of mutable bodies and landscapes becomes a central element.
The project offers an optic of considering not the conflict between the natural and the artificial, but the formation of a space of harmonious interaction, where each object becomes part of a new strange but integral urban landscape.
